About Kærshovedgård Contact Network

Our Mission

The Contact Person Network for Kærshovedgård (KHG) is a network that works to support the residents of the deportation camp. The Contact Network is a small association that fights to counteract the dehumanisation of the camp. Both one-on-one through contact persons, but also politically by drawing attention to the conditions in the camp.

Our Story

The network started in the beginning of 2017 when a group of people inside and outside KHG planned a campaign to close KHG. Out of this collaboration, there was a desire to establish and formalize contact person relations. So, the contact person network has emerged as a mutual priority between contact people inside and outside KHG, and not as a charity project.

How It Works

We set up contact person pairs with a resident of the camp and a person from outside who can visit, provide social support and perhaps help with translations or navigating systems. The purpose of the contact person relation is then for the person outside of KHG to help and support the person living within KHG as far as possible. In addition, the network gives a small monthly financial contribution to the residents.

What Contact Persons Do

The relationship can take whatever form makes most sense to the two persons involved, but it often consists of:

• Meeting (both online and in real life) each other regularly, to talk about big and small things
• The contact person outside the camp helping and supporting the person in KHG with contact to lawyers and to the legal system, mostly trying to get their case reopened
• The contact person outside the camp providing the person in KHG with information about activities within the network, such as meetings, parties, demonstrations etc.
• The contact person outside the camp helping the person at KHG getting in touch with health care professionals (Red Cross Clinics, Dentist School in Copenhagen etc.)

Vores mission

Kontaktpersonsnetværket for Kærshovedgård (KHG) er et netværk, der arbejder for at støtte beboerne i udrejsecenteret. Kontaktnetværket er en lille forening, der kæmper for at modvirke afhumaniseringen i lejren. Både en-til-en gennem kontaktpersoner, men også politisk ved at sætte fokus på forholdene i lejren.

Vores historie

Netværket opstod i starten af 2017, da en gruppe personer indenfor og udenfor KHG planlagde en kampagne for at lukke KHG. Ud af dette samarbejde opstod der et ønske om at få etableret og formaliseret personlige kontaktpersons-relationer. Dvs. at kontaktpersonsnetværket er opstået som en gensidig prioritet mellem kontaktpersoner indenfor og udenfor KHG, og ikke som et velgørenhedsprojekt.

Hvordan det fungerer

Vi sætter kontaktpersonspar op med en beboer i lejren og en person udefra, der kan besøge, give social støtte og måske hjælpe med oversættelser eller navigation i systemer. Formålet med kontaktpersonsrelationen er, at personen som bor udenfor KHG hjælper og støtter personen på KHG, så meget som det kan lade sig gøre. Derudover giver netværket et lille månedligt økonomisk bidrag til beboerne.

Hvad kontaktpersoner gør

Relationen kan tage den form, der giver mest mening for de to involverede personer, men består ofte i:

• At mødes (både online og i virkeligheden) med jævne mellemrum for at snakke om små og store ting
• Kontaktpersonen udenfor KHG hjælper og støtter personen på KHG med kontakt til advokater og til retssystemet, for at forsøge at få genåbnet vedkommendes asylsag
• Kontaktpersonen udenfor KHG videregiver informationer til personen på KHG om aktiviteter i netværket, såsom møder, fester og demonstrationer
• Kontaktpersonen udenfor KHG hjælper personen på KHG med at komme i kontakt med læger og andre sundhedsfaglige personer (Røde Kors-klinikker, Tandlægeskolen i København mm.)
